Adila’s brother and I use to work on ships together, and as a wedding gift he really wanted me to take Adila’s wedding photographs. He contacted me in the beginning of 2009, asking if I would mind flying to Johannesburg to come and capture this magical day at the end of 2009. Must admit it was quite hectic, finishing a production job in Cape Town and then getting on a plane at 6am in the morning, and by 2pm I was shooting the wedding – the heat in Johannesburg has got a way to make you tired, cause the humidity is something that our Capetonians are not use to.
The one thing that stood out to me at this wedding was the church service, the priest had the most amazing message from Kahlil Gibran:
“but let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”
Thanks Danie for flying me to Johannesburg, to capture your beautiful sister’s wedding day.
