Where shall one start?
I had the privilege to document a Muslim wedding : a first for me ! I absolutely just love different religions & ceremonies celebrating {LOVE} The wedding of Uzayr & Noorjehaan was really something
I thought best to describe how the whole procedure works …. so here goes …..
It started off at the mosque in Bishop Lavis at 9am where Uzayr attended a ceremony with the men of both families. I was not allowed to attend the ceremony, but luckily Paul {my brilliant videographer/second shooter/assistant} were there and got the most amazing pics!!!
Thank YOUuuuuuuuu !
After this we set off to meet with Nuri at her family house where Uzayr presents the ring & they are officially married. Tea is served to all the men from the Mosque.
Off to Uzayr’s family house we go – zipping through the streets.
Here Nuri gets introduced to her new extended family, a reception/tea gets served to friends & family. Time for ’duah’ {prayers of blessing} , family portraits and enjoy time with the new relatives.
The couple then sets off with the photographer for the official wedding portraits
I had great fun with these two – after meeting them at their e.session I just knew that they will have a great fun filled wedding day.
Went for a wee little detour on the way back to visit Noorjehaan’s sister {she could not be at the wedding for personal reasons} and really wanted to see her little sister on her BIG day
so we made it happen !!!
The final reception took place at Noorjehaan’s family house. More duah {blessings for the couple} … tea & KOESISTERS!!!!Plenty – i only had one
Next time I am doing a take-away
Here the family needs to greet her so that the Hajji’s{one who has made a pilgrimage to Mecca} can come and collect her and escort her to her husband’s house – what a day, right? It was …… m a g i c a l : to say the least
Uzayr left before the Hajji’s came and he was awaiting his bride at their brand new house : it was a quite an emotional experience, if I must admit … x
The parents join the couple in the ‘bruidskamer’ {bridal suite} and give them advise on marriage and duah{prayers} for their marriage. The more people that can be present in the room whilst the duah{prayers} is taking place, the stronger the blessing : ♥
Everyone leaves at sunset and the couple then finally settles as husband & wife : SLAMAT!
An experience : that i L O V E D!!Thank YoU Nuri & Uzi
x
